About Flavors & Natural Colors
Color is extracted from the raw plant material, concentrated and then standardized so that a given dose gives a repeatable shade. Solubility decides where each one fits: oleoresins go into fat systems, while water-dispersible grades suit drinks. Heat, light and acidity all move natural shades, so the material is handled and packed to limit that.
Liquids and oleoresins are supplied in drums, jerricans or lined containers, and powders in sealed bags or drums, packed to keep light and air away from the color. Strength is set against the shade you are targeting, so send a reference or a sample of the product you are coloring and trial quantities can be released before the order is fixed.

Frequently asked
How is color strength documented?
Strength, specification and a Certificate of Analysis are confirmed per order against the batch supplied, since standardization is set to the shade you are matching. The documents go out with the quotation and the batch certificate travels with the consignment.
How much color will we need?
Dose depends on the shade you want, the base you are coloring and what the product goes through afterwards. Rather than quote a figure that would not hold in your system, we send trial material against your reference so the dose is established on your own line.
Will the shade hold through baking or retorting?
Plant-derived colors react to heat, light and acidity, and each one behaves differently. Tell us the process the product passes through and the pack it sits in, and our team will point to the color most likely to hold, then supply samples so you can confirm it.
Can you develop a flavor to our brief?
Yes. Essences and flavor systems can be built to a submitted sample or a written brief, with iterations until the profile matches what you are after. The work is handled in confidence, with ownership of the developed profile set out in the development agreement signed before work starts.
